2010 PRTC TENNIS
Barn-Burner in Mixed Scrambles
Linda Regan and Fran Saldutti won the season's first tennis event, the Mixed Scrambles tournament on Saturday, coping masterfully with gusty winds to prevail over Mary Kaplan and Ed Sottile.
Michele Vandenhoeck and Stefan Kampe took third place, defeating Irene Mulligan and Russell Hampton in the second playoff match.
The turnout was excellent, with 24 members participating.
Mixed Doubles Doesn't Disappoint!!
Shelley Leboff and Les Corwin won the 2010 PRTC Mixed Doubles championship in a thrilling 2 1/2-hour endurance match over Besty Berger and Mark Slivka, 3-6. 7-6 (7-2), 6-3. The championship match capped a very successful tournament that attracted 12 teams, who played over two days, through heat and humidity and around a brief thunderstorm.
